How to change or cancel a scheduled post

The publication schedule may change at the last minute. The promotion is being moved, the offer is no longer valid or you just want to post later. In such a situation, you don't have to start everything from scratch: you can cancel the scheduled post or postpone it to a later date.

First, find the correct post in the story

It's best to start with the "History" section in the panel. This is where you can quickly check which post is already scheduled and which date you want to touch.

If you're looking for a failed post, start with the "Posts Dashboard" and the "Requires Action" section. Once you drill down in "History", you will see chronologically which platforms have already been tried, when the last attempt was and what the result is.

Before you click anything, take a look at the content, image and platforms you choose. When there are several similar posts, it's easy to start the wrong one.

A scheduled post has its due date, channels and status visible, so it's easier to select the right post to edit.

When is it better to reschedule and when to cancel?

If the post is still relevant but is due later, it's usually better to just reschedule it. If the content no longer makes sense, the promotion has ended or you want to prepare the message from scratch, it will be more convenient to cancel the publication and return to the topic later.

  • Reschedule when fasting is still needed, just to another day or time.
  • Cancel when the content is outdated or you no longer want to publish it.
  • If in doubt, read the description again as the customer will see it in a few days.

How to reschedule a scheduled post

  1. Go to the "History" section and open your scheduled post.
  2. Select the option to change the publication date.
  3. Set a new date and time that really fits your offer or message.
  4. Save the change and check if you are sure you see the new date.

An important rule

In the current version, you can only postpone the publication to a later date. It's also a good idea to make sure that the new date is within the current billing period.

How to cancel a scheduled publication

If you no longer want the post to go automatically, canceling is the easiest option. This is a good move when the offer is no longer valid, the product is out of stock or you want to completely change the message.

  1. Open a scheduled post in "History".
  2. Select the option to unpublish.
  3. Confirm your decision and make sure the post no longer appears as scheduled.

After changing or canceling, do a quick check

After saving the changes, it's worth spending another half a minute to quickly check the view. Thanks to this, you won't come back to the topic on the day of publication and ask whether everything turned out the way you wanted.

  • Check if you see a new date or no scheduled publication.
  • Make sure your post still has the correct photo, description and platform selections.
  • If the deadline has been rescheduled, see if the content will still be relevant on the new date.

The easiest way to have fewer corrections later

When planning, leave yourself a small margin. If you publish offers, promotions or posts that depend on availability, set the deadlines so that they don't hang unchecked for too long. Then you have to cancel something at the last moment less often.

Good practice is simple: after planning, you check the post again the day before or the morning of the publication. This is enough to avoid most nervous changes.
