How to turn an OLX ad into a social media post

If you already have a ready ad on OLX, do not start your post with a blank page. The easiest way is to treat your own advertisement as a starting point, transfer what is most important, and then transform the whole thing into a short, clear message for Facebook, Instagram and Google Business. Before publishing on TikTok, check that the description, material and required channel settings match your post.

Treat the ad as a base, not a ready-made post

An announcement and a post do two different things. The ad collects details of the offer, and the post is supposed to attract attention and encourage clicks or messages. Therefore, it is not worth copying everything one to one. It is better to get the specifics from the advertisement: what you offer, for whom and why it is worth contacting us now.

The simplest approach

Leave in your post only what you want the recipient to understand in a few seconds. The rest can be left in the OLX announcement itself, which is linked to in the post.

Start with your own active ad

It is most convenient to work on your own, active OLX ad, which already shows the offer well. Thanks to this, you have a ready starting point: title, description, link and first photo. Then you decide what you actually want to move into a post on Facebook, Instagram or Google Business.

  • Select an ad that is still valid.
  • Check that the photos still show the offer accurately.
  • Think about the one main message you want the post to convey.

Shorten the description to a version that can be read quickly

In social media, a short description that gets straight to the point usually wins. Instead of a full list of parameters, choose 2-3 most important advantages or specifics. If someone is interested in the offer, they will check the details in the advertisement or ask in a message.

  1. Start with what you sell or promote.
  2. Add the most important benefit, condition or differentiator.
  3. Finally, encourage them to contact you or go to the ad.

Only choose photos that get the job done

You don't have to upload the entire set of photos from the ad. In a post, a shorter choice works better: one strong opening photo and possibly 1-2 additional frames. The faster the recipient sees what it's about, the greater the chance that they will stick to the post.

  • Put the photo that sells the offer best first.
  • Remove frames that are similar to each other or have unnecessary backgrounds.
  • Leave only the materials you want to use further in the post.

Match the same material to selected channels

You can prepare several short versions of one advertisement. The meaning of the offer remains the same, but the first sentence, the length of the description and the incentive to act may be different: Facebook may be more informative, Instagram shorter and more visual, Google Business more local and specific, and TikTok requires checking whether the common content matches the material.

It is worth treating the link to the advertisement differently depending on the place of publication. On Facebook it may lead straight to the offer, on Instagram it is better to clearly state where the customer should click or how to write a message, on Google it is worth choosing a simple next step: checking the offer, contact or directions, and on TikTok check whether the description and call to action match the format.

If you promote several ads regularly, change the first sentence, the order of photos or the main argument. Thanks to this, subsequent publications do not look like a copy of the same post.

Close it with a simple process: revise, publish or schedule

The most convenient scheme is simple: you take the ad as a base, correct the description for social media, adjust the incentive and link to the place of publication, select Facebook, Instagram, Google Business, TikTok or only some of the channels, check the required settings, and then publish immediately or set a date. This is enough to promote offers faster without having to rewrite everything from scratch with each post.
